Quick Solutions to Common Refrigerator Problems

Check the following list of quick solutions to see if there is an easy fix to your refrigerator problems.

My refrigerator is not running..

  1. First, make sure that the refrigerator power plug is fully inserted directly into a power outlet. Avoid any extension cords or power strips. If the refrigerator is receiving power, you should see the light come on when you open the refrigerator door.
  2. Check if the refrigerator's circuit breaker is tripped in your electrical panel. Reset your circuit breaker for your fridge and check if any of the lights on the fridge turn on.
  3. If the interior light is coming on, but the refrigerator is not running, your refrigerator may be in Demo/Showroom mode. Check the display to determine if the refrigerator is in demo mode and disable it.

My refrigerator is too cold...

  1. First, check if water is running to the ice maker. If not, the ice maker may be lowering the temperature of the fridge to make more ice. If you disconnected the water supply to the refrigerator, then you should also disable the ice maker.
  2. If the water filter is clogged or water can't pass freely into the ice maker, the refrigerator may lower the temperature. Check the water filter and replace it if it is dirty, clogged, or damaged.
  3. If you have recently used a large amount of ice, the refrigerator may lower the temperature to make more ice. Wait at least 24 hours and then check if the temperature returns to normal.

My refrigerator is not cold enough...

  1. First, make sure you have waited 48 hours for the temperature of the refrigerator to stabilize.
  2. Make sure that airflow is not restricted around the grill that covers the condenser coil. Locate the condenser coil on either the top, bottom, or rear of the refrigerator. Check for and remove any dust and debris on the condenser coil and grill.
  3. Adjust any crisper and deli drawers to allow for more airflow or adjust them to a colder setting. Wait 24 hours before checking if the refrigerator is not cold enough.

I don't see a quick solution for my refrigerator problem...

If you can't find a quick solution to your refrigerator problem, you will need to give us a call to determine if a service call is necessary. Any of the following refrigerator issues typically require an appliance repair service call from one of our licensed technicians. 
  • My refrigerator is not running.
  • My refrigerator is running but does not get cold enough.
  • My refrigerator is displaying an error code.
  • My refrigerator is too cold, or parts of the refrigerator are forming ice.
