Quick Solutions to Common Oven Problems

Not sure if you need oven repair service? 
Check the following list of quick solutions to see if there is an easy fix to your oven problems.

My oven is not working...

  1. First, check if the oven power cable is properly plugged-in.
  2. Make sure that the oven power plug is fully inserted directly into a power outlet. Avoid any extension cords or power strips.
  3. Check if the oven's circuit breaker is tripped in your electrical panel. Reset your circuit breaker for your oven, and check if any of the lights on the oven turn on.
  4. Make sure the clock is set on the oven as this may prevent it from starting.
  5. If you have a gas oven, try lighting one of the burners. If gas is not flowing to the oven you may need to check the gas shutoff valve on the back of the oven.

It is taking a long time for my oven to preheat...

  1. If you are waiting more than 20 minutes for the oven to preheat something may be wrong with your oven.
  2. Make sure to keep the oven door closed.
  3. Remove any items in the oven including backing stones or aluminum foil on the oven racks.
  4. Set your oven to 350°F and wait 20 minutes for the oven to preheat.

My oven door won't unlock...

  1. If you have waited for your oven to cool down completely  after a self clean, try starting and then cancelling the self-clean cycle.
  2. Make sure the oven's lock-out feature is not activated. You may need to press "Clear/Off" or "Stop/Clear" for 3 to 5 seconds until the lock-out is released and the door is completely unlocked. You may need to wait until the lock-out indicator light stops flashing before the door is unlocked.
  3. If your oven has a manual lock and the oven is completely cool, then try pressing on the oven door handle firmly to release the tension from the manual lock. Try moving the lock to the unlocked position while continuing to press against the oven door handle..

I don't see a quick solution for my oven problem...

If you can't find a quick solution to your oven problem, you will need to give us a call to determine if a service call is necessary. Any of the following oven issues typically require an appliance repair service call from one of our licensed technicians. 
  • My oven is not getting hot or not baking at the set temperature.
  • My oven is not going into self-clean.
  • My oven door is not latching when going into self-clean.
  • My oven door won't unlock.
  • My oven is taking a long time to preheat with nothing in it.
  • My oven lights won't turn on, but power is coming from the power outlet.
  • My oven fan is not spinning.
