Quick Solutions to Common Dryer Problems

My dryer won't start...

  1. First, check if the dryer door is closing and latching properly. Check for any debris or clothing that might be preventing the dryer door from fully closing.
  2. Make sure that the dryer power plug is fully inserted directly into a power outlet. Avoid any extension cords or power strips.
  3. Check if the dryer's circuit breaker is tripped in your electrical panel. Reset your circuit breaker for your dryer and check if any of the lights on the dryer turn on.

My dryer is making a strange noise...

  1. First, check the dryer and your garments for debris. Check all pockets for loose change and or small objects before starting the dryer.
  2. Make sure the dryer is level and is not moving or rocking while drying a load of laundry.
  3. Gas dryers typically make clicking sounds when the gas valve opens and closes.

It's taking too long to dry my clothes...

  1. First check the lint trap compartment for any debris or small articles of clothing that could restrict air flow.
  2. Make sure the dryer vent hose is not kinked or twisted in a way that could restrict air flow.
  3. If you have a gas dryer, make sure that gas is running to your other gas appliances and that burners operate on high and furnaces produce enough heat output at temperatures over 75°.
